Astronaut

Every dog here has been fitted for a spacesuit and none of them asked why. Painted in watercolour against deep navy and gold, the astronaut collection is the one that suits a nursery or a kid's room best, and it is the newest set in the shop.

More about the astronaut collection

The astronaut palette and the rooms it suits

Deep navy, teal and gold leaf against white paper, which makes this the collection that works in rooms where the walls are already busy. It reads well in a nursery or a kid's bedroom without tipping into cartoon, and it holds its own in a hallway or a home office where the rest of the decor is plain. Hung as a pair or a set of three above a bed, the shared night-sky background ties them together even when the dogs are unrelated.

A few of the dogs wearing astronaut

The Siberian Husky looks entirely at ease, as though this had always been the plan. The French Bulldog is visibly annoyed about the helmet but going anyway. The Dachshund fills the frame corner to corner, because nobody has yet built a spacesuit for a dog that shape. The Pug appears to be asleep. The Border Collie has read the manual and has notes.

Where astronaut prints have ended up

These suit spaces built around children: nurseries, kids' bedrooms, and the waiting areas of practices that see a lot of young patients. They also work in a classroom, where a wall of dogs in helmets does more for a science corner than a poster of the solar system.

Who the astronaut collection is aimed at

If the appeal of a space print is the quiet and the scale rather than the rockets, this collection leans that way: more observatory than launchpad. It suits people who liked the slow, wide parts of Interstellar more than the loud ones.

How a astronaut print gets from Etsy to your frame

You buy the file, not a parcel. Etsy delivers the download the moment payment clears, usually within a minute. Inside are four high-resolution files at 300 DPI, one per aspect ratio, so whatever frame you already own has a version that fits without cropping the dog's ears off. Print it at home on decent paper, take it to a local copy shop, or upload it to an online printer. A5 on the desk or 50 by 70 above the sofa, same file, same price.

A astronaut print as a last-minute gift

This is the part people work out too late. There is no shipping, so there is no deadline. A birthday you forgot until this evening is still a solved problem: buy the file, print it at home or send it to a print shop in the morning, and it looks like you planned it. Frame it and nobody needs to know. It also travels well as a gift for someone abroad, since a file crosses a border considerably faster than a poster tube.
